What Each Plan Includes: Basic, Pro and Legacy

See exactly which MonuDesk pages your plan opens, what a lock or a Pro star means, and how to move between tiers.

MonuDesk has three tiers: Basic, Legacy and Pro. Your tier decides which pages in the left sidebar actually open, and it is the reason a page shows a lock, a small star, or a blurred preview with an upgrade pitch over it.

How to tell which plan you are on

Look at the top of the left sidebar, next to the MonuDesk wordmark. A small pill tells you your tier:

  • A grey Basic pill.

  • A blue Pro pill.

  • An Earlybird badge — that is the Legacy plan, closed to new signups.

You can also open Settings → Billing, where the blue Current plan card names your tier and shows your renewal amount.

If a small amber number sits beside Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, you are inside a Pro trial and that number is the days you have left. Hover it and it reads "N days left in your Pro trial. Click to manage billing." While the trial runs, the pill at the top reads Pro, because that is what is unlocked.

The seven Pro pages

Seven sidebar destinations are Pro. Everything else in MonuDesk is included from Basic up.

  • Inventory

  • Conversations

  • Order Summary

  • Open Balances

  • Tax Report

  • Installations

  • PO Tracking

QuickBooks Online is gated separately. It is available on Pro and on grandfathered Legacy, but not on Basic. On Basic, Settings → Integrations shows the QuickBooks card with a padlock, the line "QuickBooks is available on the Pro plan," and an Upgrade to Pro button. MonuPay sits on the same page and is not plan-gated.

What each tier opens

Basic is the standard paid tier and the default for a new company. It opens everything except the seven Pro pages and QuickBooks. Those seven still show in the sidebar with a small blue star.

Legacy is the grandfathered early plan, closed to new signups, and it keeps its original rate. Access is Basic-level plus QuickBooks — nothing more. Legacy is not Pro, and it is upsold to Pro exactly like Basic.

Pro opens everything, including all seven pages and QuickBooks.

Pro pages are not hidden on Basic or Legacy. Click one and the real page loads — your own data, top half readable — with the bottom half blurred under a panel explaining what the feature does and an upgrade button. That is why a Basic user can see the Open Balances layout but not work in it.

The Conversations trap

This is the one that catches people, so it is worth stating flatly.

  • Conversations is Pro only. Grandfathered Legacy does not include it, even though Legacy includes QuickBooks.

  • On Basic and Legacy you still get a real preview. You can connect a mailbox and your actual inbox loads, but you can only open the two most recent threads. The rest of the list stays visible and disabled.

  • Every write action — replying, composing, archiving, trashing, tagging, bulk actions — opens a "This is a Pro feature" dialog instead of doing the thing.

  • Mailbox allowance differs too: Basic and Legacy get one connected mailbox; Pro gets three per active office.

If Conversations is missing from your sidebar altogether, that is not your plan. That is the view conversations permission on your role — ask your company owner.

What Basic includes

This is the checklist MonuDesk shows in the app:

  • Orders and the full quote builder

  • Contacts, companies, and cemeteries

  • Invoices, contracts, and purchase order PDFs

  • Dashboard with team to-dos and drawing approvals

  • MonuPay payments with receipts on the order

  • MonuStudio 3D designer

  • Your whole team, with roles and permissions

Team size is not a plan limit. Every tier can invite the whole shop; extra seats are billed per person.

What the pills and locks mean

  • A small blue star at the end of a sidebar item means the page is Pro and you are on a paid non-Pro tier. Hover it and a card opens explaining what the feature does. It is an explanation, not an error.

  • A blue "New" pill is cosmetic. It marks a recently shipped page and has no effect on access. PO Tracking currently shows the New pill instead of the star even though it is Pro-gated, so judge that page by the pitch you get when you open it, not by the badge.

  • A small "Pro" chip next to an entry in Settings marks a setting that needs the Pro plan.

  • A small green "qb" mark next to a setting marks an option that only applies to QuickBooks. Hover it for a tooltip explaining it.

Prices

  • Basic: $149 per month, or $1,500 per year.

  • Pro: $299 per month, or $2,990 per year — which works out at $249 per month.

  • Legacy: closed to new signups. If you are on it, you keep the rate you started on.

  • Extra seats: your plan includes one seat for the owner; each additional team member is $10 per month, or $100 per year.

  • Extra offices: your first location is included; each additional office is $100 per month, or $1,000 per year.

How to change tier

Everything happens in Settings → Billing, on the blue Pro card at the top of the page.

  • Already paying (Basic or Legacy): click Upgrade to Pro. Your live subscription swaps in place and is prorated to your current billing cycle, so Pro unlocks immediately.

  • Not on a paid plan yet: you get two buttons — Subscribe to Pro, and Start 7-day free trial.

About the 7-day Pro trial. It is separate from the free trial you got at signup, and it works differently: a card is required, and each company gets one, ever. Once you have used it the button stops appearing. It converts to a paid Pro subscription on day 7 and there is no grace period — when the trial ends, the seven Pro pages re-lock the same day. Cancel before then from the Creem portal if you do not want to continue. The button also does not appear if you are already paying, because an upgrade in place is the better deal for you.

Downgrading from Pro is not the same as cancelling. Drop to Basic and you keep Pro through the end of the period you already paid for, then the seven pages re-lock. Your data stays exactly where it is — orders, inventory counts, email threads — and comes straight back if you go Pro again. Cancelling ends access to MonuDesk altogether.
