How the Scheduling Tab Works
Book an order's install day and plan its shop stages from one tab, without leaving the order.

Open any order and you will see a Scheduling section in the left menu, between Order Details and Activity Timeline. It is where you book this one order: the day the crew sets the stone, and the days the shop works on it. Everything is in one place instead of split between a dialog on the summary and the Insights pages.
Think of it as the opposite end of the telescope from the Installations Calendar. This tab books one order. The Installations Calendar shows you the whole week. They write to the same install date, so a day you book here appears on the calendar and in the Installations table straight away, and the other way round.
Both halves, and the Scheduling card in the rail
The tab is wide, so it shows both halves at once: Install scheduling on the left, Production scheduling on the right. There is nothing to switch between.
The order's right-hand column carries the short version - a Scheduling card under the pricing card, with an Installation | Production slider and a row for each thing booked. A dashed Click to schedule row means that side is empty; click any row and the same form opens as a dialog. On an order you have not saved yet the production row reads Save the order first.
Watch the small amber warning icon on either label of that slider. It marks a side with nothing booked, so you can see at a glance what is still outstanding on this order without clicking through:
On Installation, the icon means no install date is set. Hovering it reads "No install date set."
On Production, it means this order has no production events at all. Hovering it reads "No production events scheduled."
When a side is booked its icon disappears. Both icons gone means the order is fully scheduled at both ends.
Funeral home partners do not see this tab. On a partner board the Scheduling section is hidden entirely, so a funeral home never sees your crew's dates or your shop's bench plan.
Booking the install
The Installations side is headed Install scheduling and names the cemetery in its subtitle, for example "Schedule the crew's install at Riverside Memorial Park."
Above the fields sits the Promise deadline, the date you promised the customer. It is read-only here. This panel is for booking the crew, not for changing what the family was told. It shows Not set when there is no promise date. Change or remove it from the Promise Date card on Order Details, or from Step 2: Cemetery & Logistics with Edit Order.
Then fill in:
Install day or window: click the date button, reading "Set install date or window..." until something is chosen. Pick a single day, or drag across a start and end to record a window when you cannot commit to one day yet. Past dates cannot be selected.
Time: the time the crew is expected on site.
Assign team member: the chip reads Unassigned until you pick someone. Their initials then travel with the install everywhere it appears.
Installation notes: free text for the field crew - gate codes, which way the stone faces, where to park.
Click Schedule install to save. On an order that already has a date the button reads Save changes instead, and a Clear install date button appears on the left to unbook it. Saving confirms with an Install scheduled message naming the day.
A window is not a booking. Pick a start and an end and the order keeps its must schedule installation flag, because a window is a preference, not a day the crew is going. Come back and pick a single day to clear the flag.
A missing cemetery no longer blocks you
You used to need a cemetery and plot on the order before you could set a date. You do not any more. When either is missing, an amber note appears at the top of the panel, No cemetery assigned yet or No plot details yet, followed by:
"You can still book the install. Add the details later from Edit Order so the crew has them before the day."
That wording is deliberate. It is advice, not a wall. Cemetery paperwork routinely lands after a family has agreed a date, and holding the crew's diary hostage to it meant dealers were keeping install dates on paper instead of in MonuDesk. Book the day, then fill in the cemetery from Edit Order when the paperwork catches up.
The same rule now applies wherever you schedule an install, so the calendar and the Installations table behave the same way.
Planning shop work
Production events are shared with your team. They are stored on your MonuDesk account, so an event you add on the office computer is there on the iPad and everyone at your company sees it. This is the record of the shop's dates, not a private scratchpad.
Anything you booked before this changed has to be re-entered. Production events used to be held in one browser and could not be carried onto the account, so old events no longer show on the order.
Slide to Productions and you get Production scheduling - "Plan what gets cut, carved, and finished in the shop for this order." Unlike the install, an order can carry as many production events as you like, listed oldest first, each color-coded by stage.
On an order with nothing booked yet, the panel opens straight into the form, the same way Install scheduling does, so just fill it in. Once the order has at least one production event you get the list of events instead, with an Add production event button underneath it that opens the same form. Either way you set:
Shop stage: Cut, Carve, Sandblast, Engrave, QC or Ready. These six are the fixed list.
Date: the day that stage is planned for. Unlike the install date, past dates are allowed, so you can record work that has already happened.
Assign team member: who is doing it. Their name shows under the stage in the list.
Notes: instructions for the shop.
Click Schedule production to save. Each event in the list carries a pencil to edit it and a trash icon to remove it. Deleting asks first ("Remove this Cut event? Scheduled for Mar 14, 2026. This cannot be undone.") and you confirm with Remove event.
One state you might land on:
Production scheduling unavailable - "Shop work can only be scheduled once this order has been saved." Finish and save the quote first, then come back.
How it relates to the other scheduling screens
The install date is one date, shown in several places. Set it in any of them and the rest catch up:
This tab: the full form for one order, including the crew notes and the assignee.
Order Details: the Installation Date slot on the order summary, which reads Installation Window when you saved a range instead of a day. Clicking it opens this same panel as a dialog, so you never have to leave the summary.
Insights β Installations: the planning table and the calendar, for seeing the whole week, dragging jobs between days, and spotting weather delays.
Production events work the same way. Book a shop stage here and it appears on the production calendar as well (the Installation | Production slider on the Installations page and on the dashboard Calendar card, both part of MonuDesk Pro) and everyone at your company sees it. Unlike the install date, an order can carry as many production events as you like, so nothing is overwritten.
Common questions
Why can I not pick yesterday for an install? Install dates are forward-looking, so past days are blocked. To record an install that has already happened, use Add event on the Activity Timeline instead.
Why is the amber icon still on Installations after I saved? You saved a date window rather than a single day. Reopen the date picker and choose one day.
My colleague cannot see the production events I added. Production events are shared now, so check the office switcher at the top of their screen and the date they are looking at. Events booked before this changed were held in one browser and did not carry over. Those have to be entered again.
Where did the promise date go? It is shown here read-only, because this panel books the crew rather than changes what the family was told. To set, change or remove it, use the Promise Date card in the order's right-hand column on Order Details, or Step 2: Cemetery & Logistics in Edit Order. The small x on that card takes the promise date off the order for good.
Do service orders get this tab? Yes. Any order you can open has it, monument or service.
