How to Assign an Order to a Team Member

Assign or unassign an order from the card or the open order, and notify the new owner.

You can hand an order to a specific teammate so everyone knows who owns it. Find it on the round assignee bubble that sits on every order card on your board and at the top of the open order.

What the assignee bubble is

The assignee bubble is a small circular button that shows who an order belongs to:

  • When an order has an owner, the bubble shows that person's initials (or their avatar).

  • When no one is assigned yet, the bubble shows an empty "+" state labeled "Assign order to a team member."

You will see the same bubble in two places: on the order card in the board view, and on the open order itself. Assigning in one place updates it everywhere.

How to assign an order

  • Click the assignee bubble on the order card or on the open order.

  • A small popover opens with the header "Assign order" and a search box.

  • Start typing a name to filter your team, then click the teammate you want.

The bubble updates right away to show that person's initials. The change is optimistic, so it appears instantly while it saves in the background. If the save fails, the bubble reverts to its previous state and you will see the message "Couldn't update the assignment." Just try again.

How to unassign an order

  • Click the assignee bubble to open the popover.

  • Choose "Unassign" to clear the current owner.

The bubble returns to its empty "+" state. On some orders the Unassign option may not be available, in which case you reassign to a different teammate instead of clearing it.

The assignee gets notified

When you assign an order to someone, that person gets an in-app notification ("You were assigned to order …") in their notification bell. Opening it takes them straight to the order on the board, highlighted and filtered to their avatar.

You will never get a notification for assigning an order to yourself. Notifications only fire when you assign the order to someone else.

Where the assignee shows up

  • Order card and open order: the bubble shows the owner's initials at a glance.

  • Order overview: the assigned teammate also appears in the order's overview details.

  • Installations calendar: the assignee drives the install pills on the calendar, so you can see who owns each scheduled install.
