Level 1: Get Your First Order In

Level 1 gets one real order into MonuDesk in about 15 minutes. Use a job that's actually on your desk right now, not a fake one. MonuDesk only requires a customer name and a phone number or email to save. Every other field is optional and can be filled in later, so there is nothing blocking you.

Step 1: The 2-minute setup

Go to Settings → Company Profile and set your company name, address, Sales Tax %, order numbering, and your company logo. Everything here prints on the contract and invoice MonuDesk generates for you, and the logo prints on every document MonuDesk generates: invoice, quote, contract, receipt, shop ticket, purchase order and foundation order. Under Logo, the Size on documents slider sets how large it prints and Remove background strips a solid background. New accounts start with Automatic Tax Calculation switched on in Settings → Taxes, which takes the sales tax rate from the purchaser's ZIP code; while it is on, Sales Tax % is greyed out.

Step 2: Add the accessories your first order needs

If the order on your desk includes a vase or a porcelain picture, set up that one variant now so it's selectable in the quote. Go to Settings → Accessories and click Configure accessories. Photos are kept in three lists, Porcelain photo, Steel photo and Granite photo, and MonuDesk comes preloaded with common porcelain, steel and vase options, so check the list first. The Search variants, e.g. 9x12 box finds a size quickly. If your variant is missing, click + Add Variant in the right list and create just the one you need: shape, size, unit, mode and price for a photo, or style, size and price for a vase. Missing a photo or vase size? You can also add it straight from the quote: open the Size list, pick + Add a size, enter the size and price, and it is saved to Settings for next time (a photo size goes into the list for the photo's Material type).

Don't build your whole catalog now. One vase and one porcelain is enough for the first order. The full setup comes in Level 4.

Step 3: Start a New Quote

Hover the New Quote button at the top right and choose Create New Quote. The same dropdown also lists your saved Order Drafts if you want to pick one back up. Type the customer's name in the Full Name box (MonuDesk splits it into first and last name for you) and add a phone or email. That's the only required data in the whole wizard. As you fill in each step's basics, the six steps in the header bar unlock. Once the name and a phone or email are in, you can click any step to jump straight to it. On the right, a persistent Live Quote panel keeps a running total as you build the order. In a new account, the wizard points out what MonuDesk saves for you on your first three orders, with placeholders such as "Type two letters. Saved contacts appear here.": every contact, cemetery and stone you enter comes back next time.

Step 4: Cemetery, stone, and accessories

Pick the cemetery, or add it on the spot with the Add New button right inside the wizard, no settings detour needed. If the family is collecting the stone themselves, click the package-icon button beside Add New instead: the Cemetery field reads Pickup, and the order is saved with no cemetery and no cemetery fee. Then set the monument type, color, and size, and toggle on the vase or porcelain you set up in Step 2. Monument Type lists your types in the order set under Settings → Monument Types, including a Footstone card, the small flat stone marking the foot of a grave. On a Slant Marker, Top shape offers Flat Top or Serp Top, and it prints on the contract and the shop ticket. A Bronze Marker lists the colors under Settings → Colors → Bronze only, or the granite list while Bronze only is empty. The toggles you flip here decide which to-dos MonuDesk builds for the order. Skip anything you don't know yet.

Step 5: Save as Quote

Go to the Review & Create step, check the summary, and click Save as Quote. The total can be anything, including zero. The moment you save, MonuDesk goes to work for you. That's Level 2.
