How to Customize Your Contract Text

Replace the default contract body on your Contract PDF with your own rich-text legal language.

If you have your own contract wording (custom legal clauses, regional language requirements, or just a different tone) you can override the default MonuDesk contract body with your own text. Find it in Settings → Documents.

How it works

Type or paste your contract body into the custom contract text editor and click Save. This is a rich-text editor, so you can apply formatting like bold, italics, headings, and lists right in the field. From that point on, every Contract PDF you generate uses your custom text instead of the default MonuDesk contract body.

If the editor is empty, the Contract PDF falls back to the built-in default contract body. Clearing the editor later returns you to the default.

The default terms follow your company's country and are written in your company's language: companies in Germany, Austria or Switzerland get the German terms, and companies in the United States and Canada the US terms. The editor opens prefilled with those same terms.

What it changes

Your custom text replaces only the body of the Contract PDF. Everything else stays the same:

  • Order header, customer info, and decedent info stay unchanged.

  • Line items, totals, and payment summary stay unchanged.

  • The signature block at the bottom is drawn by the document itself, not by your text, so custom wording can't remove it by accident.

That block is headed ACCEPTED AND AGREED and gives two ruled lines to sign: Purchaser Signature, and your company name followed by - Authorized Signature. Each has its own shorter Date rule beside it, and the whole block moves onto a fresh page if it won't fit at the foot of the last one.

Only the contract clauses in the middle of the document are swapped.

For companies in Germany, a contract for an order with a stone also prints a "no right of withdrawal" notice after the terms (Widerrufsrecht on German documents, Right of withdrawal on English ones). It prints after your custom text too. Service-only orders, such as cleaning, repairs or added lettering, do not get it.

Your text also prints as the terms on the Quote PDF. Invoice PDFs, Receipt PDFs and Shop Tickets are not affected.

Families can also accept the order online. In the customer portal, Accept Your Order asks them to type the purchaser's name and press Accept & Sign, agreeing to the contract and terms in their documents. Check your text for an old signature line. The editor opens prefilled with MonuDesk's default wording, and that default ends with a plain Signature: ___________ sentence. If you built your version on top of that prefill, the sentence is still sitting in your text and your contract will print it just above the new ACCEPTED AND AGREED block, giving two signature areas on the same page. Delete the old line in the editor and save. The Quote PDF prints the same text, so one fix cleans up both documents.

Tips

  • You can paste from a Word document and your formatting comes along, since the field is a rich-text editor. Bold, italics, line breaks, and paragraph breaks are preserved.

  • To go back to the default at any time, just clear the editor and save.
